Chicken Pie

This Chicken pie is Nancys Grandmother's recipe and a favourite here on the farm. It combines a mouth watering gravy with chunks of fresh chicken and your favourite vegetables for that classic comfort food that is sure to warm your soul. 

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Butter or chicken fat
  • 4 tbsp Flour, all-purpose 
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp poultry seasoning 
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp grated onion
  • 1 unbaked pie crust with top 
  • 2 cups diced cooked chicken
  • 1 cup cooked vegetables 
  • (peas, carrots, potatoes, celery) 

Directions

  1. Melt butter and add flour. Brown.
  2. Add salt, poultry seasoning, chicken broth, milk, black pepper and grated onion to butter/flour mixture and heat together. 
  3. Add chicken and vegetables, cool. 
  4. When slightly cooled, put into unbaked pie crust and cover with top crust. 
  5. Preheat over to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake 25-30 minutes or until crust is slightly golden. 
  6. Serve 10 minutes after removing from oven. 

*This recipe is great for using up leftover gravy, cut up roast chicken, and any left over vegetables.
