World Famous Ribs

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs. pork back (or side) ribs

BBQ Sauce for Coating:

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • ¼ tsp Tabasco sauce
  • ½ tsp salt

Directions

Sauce Instructions:

  1. Combine sauce ingredients in sauce pan over medium heat. Whisk until smooth. Bring it to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30-45 minutes, until thickened.
  3. Cool sauce before using as a 24-hour marinade.

Rib Preparation:

  1. Cut ribs into serving pieces (about 1 lb. each).
  2. Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Cut 4 pieces of aluminum foil, approximately 6 inches longer than rib pieces.
  4. Coat ribs with BBQ sauce, then wrap tightly in foil.
  5. Place rib packages on tray (or directly on oven racks) seam side up. Cook 2 – 2.5 hours until meat shrinks back from cut ends of bone by ½ inch. The long cooking time will ensure the meat will be tender and fall off the bone.
  6. Remove foil and smother with additional sauce.
  7. Grill ribs on BBQ for 2-4 minutes/side or until sauce caramelizes and blackens in spots. Serve in additional sauce, if desired.

Tip: Marinate in foil packages in fridge for 24 hours for extra ordinary results!!
